Hey everyone!

Todays post is going to be another SFX look, PERFECT for Halloween!

I was totally inspired by Bonnie Corban SFX on Youtube! She did an amazing look, and i was completely inspired to recreate it on myself!

I made some changes to the look, i used it as an inspiration, i didn't recreate her look exactly, thats the beauty of makeup! Pick and choose how you would like to do it!

If you are squeamish, i have giving you fair warning! This is a gore sfx look, so if you do not like this type of makeup, or have an incredibly weak stomach, this post wont be for you.

The look I did on myself is a 'Taped on face' look, with a burnt face, taped over the burn is a 'pretty' 'mask'! Hopefully that makes sense! Its hard to put into words haha!

What you need:

-Ben Nye Nose and Scar wax (whatever wax you choose)

-Liquid latex (Bonnie uses gelatin for this step)

-Tissues

-Cotton Balls

-Disposable sponges

-Cream colours (I use Ben Nye)

-Portion of your face done with glamour makeup/regular makeup

-Thick blood

-Dark blood

-Tape

-Vaseline

I started with a full face of makeup from the day, i rubbed off one side of the makeup, where i wanted the burn to be. I have chosen to do the right side with a burn, Bonnie does an infected type look, but you can do whatever you like! I started by utlining where i want the 'mask' to sit. Then, i applied spirit gum and layed down rolled out 'sausage' shape nose and scar wax. I used a metal spatula to smooth out the edges, leaving the outer edge harsh and sharp. I did this all the way around my mask outline, and smoothed it out until i was happy with it. After i was happy with the way it looked, i powdered the nose and scar wax to help take away a little bit of the shininess.

I then covered my right eyebrow and eyelash in Vaseline, to stop any latex sticking to it and pulling out the hair!

Then, i covered my right eye with a cotton ball. Bonnie uses a makeup round covered it latex to cover her eye, and i would strongly suggest doing it this way, to 100% ensure you do not get any latex into your eye. I chose not to, and though i didn't get any latex in my eye i would suggest doing it the way Bonnie does. I covered my entire eye in tape covered cotton ball, that i pressed onto the back of my hand to ensure it wasnt too sticky.

Next, i started layering my face in latex and tissue, and added some torn apart cotton on some areas to create a different texture. I layer the tissue and latex until i am happy with the texture and it looks uneven, the messier the better! I did this around the entire 'mask'. Remember not to use any good brushes when working with latex unless its completely dry, because it will 100% ruin them! i used a disposable sponge to apply the latex, and waited until it was completely dry before painting it. The colours i chose to paint my burn, were a mixture of browns, purples, reds, salmon colours and black. I also outlined the mask in black, to give the illusion of a shadow. I stippled the colours on with a disposable sponge, and used a brush to get into the little crevices.

After i was happy with the colour, i added thick blood to different areas all of the burnt areas of the face. Next its time to add dark runny blood to areas of the face aswell, to add more dimension! You could even drip the blood down the neck, though if i was to do this on a client i would take the burn all the way down the neck to make it look more completed. Last step is to stick tape around the mask, to make it look like its been taped over the burtn face!

I hope you feel inspired to try out some SFX because it is so much fun!

If you have, be sure to link them down below, i would love to see!

Thank you for reading!
